The Return Of Fins On Cars?
Having grown up in the 1950s, I have a fondness for the cars of the era and the "fins" that many sprouted. This styling phenomenon evidently began and reached its zenith with Cadillac. The 1959 "cat"--brother Forry's term for the luxury marque--had taillight-holding protuberances that looked about a foot high.
After that, tailfins began to shrink and were largely gone by the mid-60s, although vestiges remained, mainly on Cadillacs, for some years.
Recently, in Iron Mountain, Michigan, I came upon a relatively new Cadillac SRX with a hint of tailfins--the first I've seen in many years. Please see the included photos.
They're small, but they're there.
